Grigory Kovalevsky

Grigory Kovalevsky was born in 1943. In 1967 he graduated with honors from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (double bass class of Prof. Andrei Astakhov, cello class of Prof. Valentin Berlinsky). Since 1968, Grigory Kovalevsky worked in the symphony orchestra of the Moscow State Philharmonic, was the accompanist of the double bass group. In 1979, together with Vladimir Spivakov and a group of like-minded people, he organized the Moscow Virtuosos orchestra, which has been a member of the orchestra since its inception.

2016 marks the 55th anniversary of Grigory's creative work  Kovalevsky. He performed in an ensemble with outstanding musicians, including D.  Oistrakh, S.  Richter, M.  Rostropovich, B.  Davidovich, W.  Spivakov, V.  Tretyakov, Yu.  Bashmet, N.  Gutman, E.  Virsaladze, M.  Pletnev, W.  Krainev, N.  Petrov, E.  Kissin, W.  Repin, D.  Sitkovetsky A.  Rudin, T.  Zimmerman, D.  Matsuev, A.P. Borodin Quartet, D.  D.  Shostakovich, "Moscow Trio" and others.

Every year the musician gives concerts around the world, holds master classes in Europe. He has many records released by Melodiya, BMG/RCA Victor Red Seal, Capriccio.
