Rodion Petrov

Born in 1978 in Moscow. He studied at the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory and at the Gnesins' Moscow Secondary Special Music School. Then he graduated from the Reina Sofia High School of Music in Madrid (class of Prof. Zakhar Bron) and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Prof. Maya Glezarova).

In 1992 he was awarded a diploma and a special prize at the I International Tchaikovsky Competition for Youth. Laureate of the Valsesia Musica International Competition (Italy, 1st prize), the Giovanni Battista Viotti International Competition (Italy), the IV International Competition  named after Niccolo Paganini in Moscow (2nd prize), the Rodolfo Lipitzer International Competition in Gorizia (Italy, 2nd prize and five special prizes), the Paganini Violin International Competition in Genoa (Italy, 2nd prize).

The musician tours in Russia, in Europe and Asia. He performs with leading orchestras and conductors, gives concerts in the most famous halls, such as the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the National Auditorium in Madrid, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Wigmore Hall in London, the Paris Philharmonic, etc. Participated in many international festivals, including "Return", Vivarte, Vivacello.

Since 2012 he has been a member of the David Oistrakh String Quartet. Plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadanini (1745).
