Denitsa Lafchieva
clarinet

Born in 1980 in Sofia. At the age of 14 she made her debut with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra in the Bulgaria Hall. She studied at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her mentors were famous European clarinetists and teachers Peter Schmidl, Petko Radev, Mark van de Wiel, Andrew Marriner.

She has won a number of awards at national and international competitions, has recorded several discs for BMG and Naxos. Laureate of the competition and scholarship holder of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation in Vienna. In 2000, she was awarded the title "Musician of the Year" by the Bulgarian National Radio, in 2004 and 2021 she received an award from the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria "for her outstanding contribution to the development of culture."

She has performed in prestigious festival orchestras conducted by Colin Davis, André Previn, Hannu Linta, Leif Segerstam, Charles Mackeras, Yakov Kreutzberg, Valery Gergiev. She made her debut at London's Wigmore Hall in 2007, and a year later at Carnegie Hall in New York. He regularly performs at the Vienna Musikverein.

Played in an ensemble with famous musicians such as Victoria Postnikova, Eldar Nebolsin, Itamar Golan, Ashley Wass, Julien Quentin, Guy Johnston, Liz Berto, Patrick Gallois, Peter Somodari, Gordan Nikolic, Albena Danailova, Julian Rakhlin, Paul Meyer, Andrew Marriner , Peter Schmidl, Philip Cooper and others. Repeatedly performed live and recorded for radio and television in different countries, including BBC, ITV, ORF, RFI, RAI, BNT, BNR, NHK.

He teaches at the Talent Music Master Conservatory in Brescia (Italy), is the artistic director of the Summer Academy of Arts in Burgas. He hosts the author's program "Eternal Music" on the First Channel of the Bulgarian National Television.
