Kirill Gershtein

Born in 1979 in Voronezh. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, the Manhattan School of Music in New York (class of Solomon Mikovsky), improved with Dmitry Bashkirov at the Reina Sofia School of Music in Madrid, with Ferenc Rados at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, with Alexis Weisenberg at master classes in Engelberg (Switzerland).

In 2001, he won the Arthur Rubinstein International Competition in Tel Aviv. The following year, he was awarded the Gilmore Young Artist Award, established by the Gilmore Foundation (USA), in the 2005/06 season - the title of Carnegie Hall Rising Star. In 2010, he received the Gilmore Foundation Award and the Avery Fisher Career Grant from Lincoln Center in New York.

Performs in the best halls of the world, participates in prestigious festivals: in Verbier, Aix-en-Provence, Lucerne, Aspen, Chicago (Ravinia), Tanglewood, Jerusalem, London (BBC Proms), Salzburg. Collaborates with leading orchestras in the USA, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Japan, Taiwan, Venezuela.

In 2010, he signed an exclusive contract with Myrios Classics and released several albums. The recording of Tchaikovsky's First Concerto and Prokofiev's Second Concerto with the German Symphony Orchestra of Berlin conducted by James Gaffigan received the ECHO Klassik Award - 2015. The album "Transcendent Etudes" by Liszt (2016) was included in the ranking of the best classical music recordings by The New York Times, The New Yorker and WFMT radios.

Since 2007 he has been a professor at the Higher School of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. Since 2014 he has been teaching at the Berklee College of Music and the Conservatory in Boston, since 2018 at the Kronberg Academy in Germany. Conducts master classes in different countries of the world.
