Konstantin Lifshits was born in 1976 in Kharkov. Graduated from the Gnessin Moscow Music School (class of Tatyana Zelikman), the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (classes of Tatyana Zelikman and Vladimir Tropp), then improved under the guidance of Alfred Brendel, Leon Fleischer, Theodor Gutman, Hamish Milne, Charles Rosen, Carl Ulrich Schnabel, Fu Tsong and Rosalyn Turek.

In the early 1990s, he received a grant from the Russian Cultural Foundation and began touring in Europe. In 1995, he received the ECHO Klassik Award ("Most Promising Artist of the Year") for his recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations, which was later also nominated for a Grammy Award.

The musician performs with leading Russian and foreign ensembles, collaborated with M. Rostropovich, V. Spivakov, Y. Temirkanov, N. Marriner, B. Khaitink, M. Yurovsky, A. Boreyko and other outstanding conductors. He played in an ensemble with G. Kremer, M. Vengerov, V. Repin, M. Maisky, N. Gutman, D. Sitkovetsky, P. Kopachinskaya, S. Gabetta, A. Rudin.

In 2008 he made a concert recording of both volumes of J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier at the International Piano Festival in  Miami. He has recorded several discs for the Orfeo company, including albums with works by J. S. Bach, J. Frescobaldi, Gottfried von Einem, J. Brahms and W. A. Mozart. AT  In 2014 he recorded all of L. van Beethoven's violin sonatas with Daishin Kashimoto (Warner Classics).

Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music in London. With  Since 2008 he has been teaching at the Lucerne University of Music. In recent years, he has been actively performing as a conductor.

Engagements for the 2017/2018 season include performances of all L. van Beethoven sonatas in Hong Kong, Taipei and Taichung (China), works by I. Stravinsky and J. S. Bach in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, concerts in Tokyo, Shanghai, Nicosia, Maastricht, Berlin, Omsk and participation in several international festivals.
