Mikhail Shilenkov was born in 1977. Graduated from the State School of Wind Art (class of Mikhail Gordeev) and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Prof. Valery Popov).

In 1995 he became a soloist with the Young Russia State Symphony Orchestra, in 1999 with the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pavel Kogan. Since 2003 he has been a soloist with the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Vladimir Fedoseev).

He played in ensembles with famous musicians, including A. Lyubimov, A. Utkin, T. Alikhanov, D. Shapovalov, M. Bennet, A. Baeva, N. Borisoglebsky, A. Bogorad, A. Buzlov. He performed with such conductors as V. Fedoseev, K. Mazur, A. Lazarev, J.-C. Casadesus, A. Rudin, V. Spivakov, V. Sinaisky, Yu. Simonov, M. Pletnev, T. Currentzis and others.

He also plays the Baroque bassoon and is one of the founders of the L'esprit du Vent ensemble of ancient wind instruments.  In 2005 he took part in the master class of Alberto Grazzi. Since 2004 he has been a regular member of the Pratum Integrum Orchestra of Historical Instruments. He also collaborates with the ensembles The Pocket Symphony, La Villa Barocca, La Stravaganza. He took part in the festivals Telemann-Festtage (Germany), La Folle Journée (France), EarlyMusic (St. Petersburg), "December Evenings".

Mikhail Shilenkov plays Puchner (modern bassoon) and Wolf (baroque bassoon) instruments. He teaches at the Moscow Regional College of Music named after S. S. Prokofiev and teaches the course "Historical Bassoon" at the Baroque Academy of the Gnessin Moscow Music School.
