Sergey Malov was born in 1983 in St. Petersburg. He graduated from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and the Hans Eisler University of Music in Berlin as a violinist and violist.

Winner of international violin competitions: named after J. Heifetz in Vilnius, W. A. Mozart in Salzburg, named after M. Hill in Queenstown (I prize, Audience Award and prize for the best performance of chamber music); winner of the viola competition in Tokyo. Laureate of the L. Spohr violin competitions in Vienna, N. Paganini in Genoa, winner of the special prize of the Bach Competition in Leipzig (specializing in baroque violin), winner of the ARD violist competition in Munich.

The musician's repertoire covers a huge range of works from the early baroque to the present. He plays the violin (modern and baroque), viola and cello da spalla (baroque piccolo cello).

In concert programs, Malov performs solo works using all his instruments, participates in various chamber ensembles, and regularly performs with orchestras as a soloist and conductor.

The musician collaborated with well-known orchestras in London (including the Royal Philharmonic), Munich (Bavarian Radio Orchestra), Helsinki, Tokyo, St. Petersburg, Bucharest, Cape Town, Auckland, etc.

The musician's recordings are released by Decca, EASonus, Pan Classics, Solo Musica, Alba and Hännsler Profil. The latest release of the musician - the album "Dedication to Izaya" - was released in September 2017.

Since 2017, Sergey Malov has been a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts.
